This white stuff was truly repulsive! It most closely resembles Tremella fuciformis, the Jelly Fungus. Apparently this is among the early species to appear on fallen trees, and is common in eucalypus and mixed forests (Fuhrer 2005). This was just above the turnoff to the final climb on Cathedral Rock, where eucalypts are mixed with a variety of other species.
