This appeared to be one fungus (white, spiky, dark spike-end bobbles) devouring another (brown mushroom - smaller one just visible to the left of the largest spiky mass).

This next photo seemed to have two types of fungus living together - red/orange and blue/grey. The red/orange one is being attacked by something (another fungus?).

It appears in the next photo too I think. Mushrooms were actually quite hard to find today - it has dried up, so I'll look again after it rains again.
